The Immediate Focus for contributions:

At the present time, we are still in the thick of the struggle...

of a probation officer denying and delaying permission to access medical care for an
excruciatingly painful degenerative spinal condition that is worsening over time,
which we believe displays a willful disregard for Constitutional Rights,
thereby threatening the fabric of the civic good of the United States Justice System.

The Judge in this case has denied both a Motion to Appoint Counsel as well as the
court-suggested Pro Se Motion for Early Termination of Supervised Release.

Despite attempts to work with both the probation office and the court,
no plan is in place that would facilitate effective medical care despite
medical documentation for necessity of medical care.

The judge's ruling to deny the motions came after an ER visit failed to reduce
pain levels despite prescribing two opioids
and an anti-inflammatory as additions to routine prescriptions
of 4 other high dose medications to attempt to control pain.
Potential of bone infection and risk for bone death were reported to the judge.

The Motion still came back Denied.

We believe this crosses the threshold of the 8th Amendment Rights
to be free from "cruel and unusual punishment"

Thus, the contributions and resources we seek at this initial stage of developing the
Backbone for Justice Probation Reform Project center on resourcing
the current legal needs for obtaining Early Termination of Supervised Release
for the person who has inspired the Backbone of Justice Project.

Once the individual behind the inspirational case is free, it will be safer to speak freely .

As he is able to engage in medical care, thereby reducing pain levels,
it will become possible to demonstrate evidence that it was the
delay in access to effective medical treatment which presented
the sole and unnecessary cause of years of senselessly
suffering chronic yet curable pain.

As his pain levels reduce and he can eventually eliminate pain medications, it should be
possible to calibrate a pain-simulator device to his ability to function or hit
the limits of the kind of disabling pain he has been forced to endure for years due
first to the medical neglect while incarcerated and then due to the
prolonged unresponsiveness to his requests to travel for access to
medical care under the restrictions of probation.

A pain-simulator device, such as those utilized in empathy-training for medical providers,
has the potential to provide more objective data as well as a route for others
to have a directly embodied vicarious experience simulating the pain of another.

We believe this kind of increase in empathy can help us change everything.

Access to or funding for a pain-simulator device can lend proof of concept.
And, we will need a solid legal advocacy team to help us address policy.

The immediate needs for getting The Backbone of Justice Project up and running center first on securing legal support for achieving safety, stability, medical care, and early healing for the inspirational case as our acute our focus at this starting point.

Once he is safe and sound, we look forward to hitting the ground running with forming alliances with others who share a passion for reshaping the U.S. Justice System as we know it, extending this Transformational Justice work within a global vision for a greater holistic uplift for humanity towards building a Culture of Peace, where each person and community is supported in a thriving way of life.

At the Backbone of Justice Project, we look forward to advancing advocacy work in collaboration with others from many walks of life, who can lean in with their time, talents, skills, perspectives, stories, resources, networks, legislative agendas, community-based initiatives, and awareness campaigns to move probation reform and community integration efforts forward.

We believe it is possible to achieve a vision of a very different and much more harmonious, safe, abundant, just, and sustainable way for the human family to approach our life together on this beautiful garden planet. It might mean we need to re-imagine nearly every societal structure we have created. We believe that capacity is absolutely within the intelligence we collectively carry. In order to truly tap into that power, we cannot marginalize anyone but rather must recognize that each individual is a necessary part of the whole to show us the overall picture of what we have created, together. And we must honor that each living being has gifts to contribute.

For the Individual Body. For the Body of Justice

We feel that having highly qualified legal support through the process will help to best set the stages for success in obtaining freedom for this one individual, as well as establish case law as a precedent for future trends towards improving access to important medical care for those incarcerated and on probation. Further, we hope to navigate the legal system in a manner which holds those in positions of power and authority accountable for inhumane treatment of their fellow humans within the Justice System, while expanding how the systems function with broader oversight, accountability, and rehabilitative orientation.

In order for the judge to look favorably on the request for early termination from probation, it may be necessary or wise to shore up income opportunities. To this end, The Backbone of Justice Project has been granted inclusion under a fiscal sponsorship umbrella through a Peace Messenger Organization with non-profit status as part of their Network for Good. This will tax-deductible status to donors in order to help with fundraising efforts in support of the inspirational case getting on his feet in order to use his life as a springboard for probation reform and constitutional rights advocacy.

As a messenger organization for peace, with a heart for social justice, our non-profit sponsor also supports us in building awareness of this platform, through creative story telling by supporting the co-founder in her writing efforts. So, donations can be allocated for that purpose as well. Click the Donation button below to route to the donation page for more information.
